Herodotou Travels to Ashkelon, Israel

Petros Chrysochos, Kostantinos Ioannides and Mara Argyriou travelled to Ashkelon, Israel, accompanied by coach Pambos Vassiliou, to compete in the Amos Mansdoorf 1 & 2 U16’s tournaments.

All players left Cyprus in good shape, focused and ready to stamp their mark on the first tournament.  Kostantinos Ioannides was runner up last year and Petros Chrysochos reached the semi finals, so both players had high hopes for this tournament.

The team’s task did not appear easy as the draw looked tough for all players. Kostantinos Ioannides faced a strong Israeli player Leshem Edan who could have been a handful if taken lightly. Petros was drawn against the Israel number 2 seed Yonahatan Kaufman – a player who gets every ball back, so full focus would be required.  Mara was also drawn against Israeli opposition Avital Vaysbuch
