Herodotou Stars Shine Bright!

Nicolas Campbell, the young star, shines brighter than ever as he won the Valley Junior Tournament to add a second championship to his name this year, in as many tournaments.   Nicolas took the tournament by storm losing just 6 games in 5 matches. He played a very mature tournament.  After coming from one of the toughest tournaments in the nation as the winner, it would have been easy for this young star to get complacent. But Nicolas has shown that he has the maturity to keep his focus whichever opponent he plays.

In the final, Nicolas played another Herodotou rising star, Lefteris Kostantinou, who beat some tough opponents on his path to the final. The long matches and late nights up at the Valley Tennis Club took their toll on this young talent who looked fatigued in the final against the fresher Nicolas. Nonetheless Lefteris is a fighter on court and gave it his all. I’m sure this will be one of many finals for both players this year.

A lot of Herodotou Tennis Academy players did well in this tournament. Kseniya Kamenskikh won the Girls U16 singles title and was runner up in the Girls U18 singles and David Podonwski was runner-up in the U16 Boys Singles.  Nicolas Kampel added the Boys Doubles U12 winner’s trophy to his collection, partnered by Theodoros Sofroniou. In the Boys Doubles U14 & U16 Andreas Kazamias partnered by Demetris Kokis were victorious in both categories. Congratulations to all the players that took part in this tournament, and keep up the hard work.
